It's pretty stupid. There are historical records (diaries, and the like) that categorically state that wet nurses were used by the higher socio-economic classes not because of the whole sex thing but to prevent "figure spoilage," and to make sure Mama could be out at all hours and sleep as long as she wanted without the inconvenience of having to care for her own child.
