The president has announced his choice for Justice O'Connor's seat, and it's Harriet Miers. I've never heard of her, and I don't know how many others have, either. Predictably, conservatives are encouuraged by little hints that she might be pro-life (she's active in an Evangelical church, and she once argued that the American Bar Association should not adopt a pro-abortion stance as its official position). Liberals are upset that once again, a nominee has no paper trail to provide ammunition for a character assassination, annd are throwing around terms like "longtime Bush supporter" as thought they were somehow damning.
But what gets me is the mug picture the Washington Post used in its online article:
Notice how it makes her look undead or something. Of all the pictures available of her, why use this one?
Keep an eye on the pictures in the news stories about this confirmation process, and see if all the conservatives aren't shown looking either angry or stupid. And they say there's no bias!
Update: Look at this one. I can't play the video on this computer, but the opening shot is even stupider-looking than the WaPo one.
